Völkischer Bund Altreichsflagge

The paramilitary organization known as Völkischer Bund Altreichsflagge was formed out of the large paramilitary organization Wehrverband Reichsflagge led by captain Adolf Heiß. The Altreichsflagge was founded and headed by Wilhelm ‘Willy’ Liebel, a volunteer in the First World War originating from Nürnberg in the Bavarian region of Franconia.

Not very much is known about Liebels whereabouts during the war, but he was made a lieutenant during the war. After returning to Germany, he worked, first as an apprentice in the family business, a publishing house called Verlag Fr. Monninger, which also partly went under the name Panzerfaust Verlag, the namesake was the iron fist (Panzerfaust in German), the symbol of the paramilitary Wehrverband Reichsflagge which Liebel was a member of at the time.
