The meetings during the early years of the party were very important for many reasons, some of the events played a major role in the future to come, some did not. However, most of these badges tell us a big portion of history of these early years. Some of the badges shown here are not showcased anywhere else on the entire internet. Apart from the German NSDAP, this page also includes badges from the Austrian and Czech sister parties.
Reichsparteitag in Weimar, 3 – 4 July 1926 – RRRRR The first really big gathering of the NSDAP after the ban on the party was lifted. Due to the bad economy of the party, the badge was made from cardboard. As of today, only about five or six surviving examples are known to collectors, making it one of the rarest items from the NSDAP in existence. It was also the first Reichsparteitag badge made by the NSDAP, but not the first meeting badge, as the only known earlier one was minted in 1925.
Reichsparteitag in Nürnberg, 19 –21 August 1927 – RRRRR The following year another Reichsparteitag was held, now in the Franconian city of Nürnberg. From this year, all events would be held in Nürnberg without exception. While period depicted both as just as the metal eagle, but also sometimes with a purple cloth floral backing, the so called Echeverias , or ‘Perle von Nürnberg’, the pearl of Nürnberg.
Reichsparteitag in Nürnberg, 1 – 4 August 1929 – RRR One of the most iconic NSDAP events with around 30.000 – 40.000 attendants. After the Machtübernahme in 1933, the badge was viewed as a symbol of membership in the party’s old guard, and was frequently worn by high-ranking party leaders, including Hitler. It was reproduced multiple times during the 1930s, and gained the status as a prestigious party award, with only the Coburg Badge from 1932 being superior in status. The badge depicted is the original event issue made by Hoffstätter in Bonn.
