The German Weimar republic witnessed the emergence of a right-winged alliance, officially known as Die nationale Front. This alliance sought to redefine the nation’s destiny and was often referred to as Die nationale Opposition in the media. October 11 1931, the Nationale Front gathered in Bad Harzburg for a massive rally.
The rally at Bad Harzburg was only the introduction of what was about to come, but it was an important one. The size and success of this Nationale Front, showed that the Weimar republic was failing. Too many people were suffering from the economic burden of the imposed penalties and reparations after the Great War. Democracy lost followers, and they sought refuge with the political right-wing.
