Bund Altreichsflagge

The paramilitary organization known as Völkischer Bund Altreichsflagge was formed out of the large paramilitary organization Wehrverband Reichsflagge led by captain Adolf Heiß. The organization was founded and headed by Willy Liebel, a volunteer in the First World War originating from Nürnberg in the Bavarian region of Franconia.

Not very much is known about Liebels whereabouts during the war, but he was made a lieutenant during the war. After coming home to Germany he worked in the family business, a publishing company called Verlag Fr. Monninger, later renamed Panzerfaust Verlag, the namesake was the iron fist (panzerfaust in German), symbol of the big Franconian paramilitary organization Wehrverband Reichsflagge which Liebel was a member of. He operated the business together with his father until 1926 when he became the sole owner of the company. The company was also involved in the printing of Julius Streichers antisemitic newspaper Der Stürmer.…
