Nun erst recht!

Nun erst recht!

The consensus seems to be that badges with the slogan “nun erst recht” are about the literal meaning of the words, namely “now all the more” or something similar. The opinion is, that these words are linked to the NSDAP being forbidden after the Putsch of 1923, because supposedly a banned party and an imprisoned leader makes people more determined. However, the fact that this rings true superficially doesn’t make it so. Determination was already there. A Putsch implies determination. Killing for the cause is determination. There’s no “we’re more serious now”. Although the ban on all anti-state organizations and all forms of their manifestation did cause the slogan to appear to bypass the ban, it had nothing to do with the NSDAP preparing for a more serious next round. Reality already was very serious.
