The badges of the Freikorps are an interesting subject, many of them are quite anonymous, while others, especially the veterans badges during the Third Reich era are very outspoken.
Deutsche Legion–Identification Badge (c. 1919) – RRRR A very rare identification (uniform) badge for the German Legion that was part of the Western Russian Liberation Army under the command of count Avalov.
Grenzschutz Ost–Honor Badge (c. 1920s) – RRR A quite rare uniform shild awarded for formal uniform wear to replace the cloth badge worn during the conflict. The design is strongly tied to the tradition of the Teutonic Order that also operated in the Baltics centuries earlier.
Bund Oberland– Bewährungszeichen (1921 – 1923) – RRRR The Oberland Qualification Badge was awarded to members of the Bund Oberland. These badges was, according to the former Oberländer Hans Weber, awared exclusively to fighters that was participating in the Battle of Annaberg in May 1921, while the red badges was awarded to members who wasn’t. Wether this is true or not remains a mystery to this day. This badge is not really a Freikorps badge, but is kept here for explaining the misconception.
